It’s Oktoberfest in Little Falls!

Oktoberfest_in_Little_Falls (1)Little Falls, NY – The leaves are turning, the cider is flowing, and the pumpkins are on display which can only mean one

thing – Oktoberfest is coming to Little Falls! This Thursday October 15, Main Street First and Think Local continue the

ongoing Third Thursday program, bringing events and entertainment to the community while showcasing great specials

offered by local businesses. This month’s theme celebrates all things October from the food to the music to the

spookiness of Halloween! The festivities kick off in the morning when the shops and eateries open and specials are

offered. Think Local will then host a night of family fun from 3:30-8pm.

One of the more popular Third Thursday events, Story Hour for Grownups, has been expanded to also include a Story

Hour for Children. Children may meet at the Sandwich Chef from 3:30-4:30pm for a free reading of fall/Halloween books!

The Grownups event is hosted at Gansevoort House Book & Art Gallery from 5:30-6:30pm and Jane Spellman will read

and discuss her book Women Belong in History. Another literary adult event is Storyslam to be held at the First

Presbyterian Church where storytellers will have 5 minutes for an open-mic to share some “horrific” tales.

Be sure to check out free family events on Second Street including pumpkin bowling and other Halloween games, along

with a Puppet Show presented by The Guild of Thespian Puppets. At the corner of Albany and South Ann Street you can

attend a free family movie at Valley Cinema. The Historical Society, on South Ann Street, will also be open for your family

from 4-6pm.

Of course, East Main Street gets in on the fun with LiFT (Little Falls Theater) taking the stage at Vincent Guitar for an

adult themed scene from Doctor Faustus at 7:35pm free of charge. Before that spooky scene, you can attend some free

kids’ events on East Main Street including a scavenger hunt starting at Sandwich Chef, face painting at The Dragon’s Lair,

crafts at the Community Center and sidewalk chalk art by Mark Verri in front of M&T. There will also be free live music in

front of the M&T Clock Tower by Jude’s Polka Jets from 5:30-7:30pm (bring a lawn chair!). Don’t forget to head over to

RD’s Gorge View Lanes for Turkey Bowling – bowl 2 games and the 3rd consecutive one is FREE from 4-11pm.

Oktoberfest themed beer specials can be found at The Copper Moose and The Happen Inn. You can also catch a free

wine tasting featuring German wines and treats at Ann Street Liquor, a free fall beer tasting at The Piccolo Café, and a

free Moonshine tasting at the Renaissance featuring country-styled spirits distilled in Herkimer by DikinDurt Distillery.

Several restaurants will offer authentic Bavarian dishes as well including brats and German potato salad for lunch at Ann

Street Deli, Knockwurst and sauerkraut at Ed & Buds, and brats with sauerkraut and apples at Il Caffé Espresso Bar, to

name a few. One of Little Falls’ newest restaurants on East Main Street, Ruggiero’s Trattoria, joins the fun by offering a

free tasting of their delicious creamy potato soup.

So, dust off your lederhosen and dirndl dresses and come to Little Falls for Oktoberfest in true Bavarian style! Events

include both family friendly and adult oriented. There are many more events and specials as part of Oktoberfest than

shown here. Please see www.shoplittlefallsny.com to download the Oktoberfest brochure and see a full list of event

details, or visit ‘Think Local Little Falls’ on Facebook. This day of FAMILY FUN is brought to you through the cooperative

efforts of Main Street First, Think Local Little Falls, the Little Falls Family YMCA, and the City of Little Falls Tourism
